Peer Support Specialist/Driver

About the Job
This position helps clients attend appointments, treatment activities, meetings, court dates, employment-related obligations, and other approved destinations. The Peer Support / Driver also serves as a positive role model by encouraging recovery, accountability, respectful behavior, and compliance with program expectations.

Primary duties include safely transporting clients in company-approved vehicles, following all traffic laws, maintaining appropriate boundaries with clients, documenting transportation as required, and reporting any concerns to appropriate staff. This position may also assist with basic peer support activities, such as encouraging clients to remain engaged in treatment, supporting sober living expectations, helping clients practice healthy coping skills, and communicating concerns related to safety, behavior, or relapse risk.

The Peer Support / Driver must be dependable, respectful, professional, and able to work with individuals in recovery from substance use. This position requires a valid driver’s license, a safe driving record, the ability to follow agency policies, and the willingness to maintain confidentiality. Personal recovery experience may be helpful, but is not required unless specified by the agency.

Basic Requirements
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. 
  • Must be able to pass any required background checks, drug screens, and agency training. 
  • Must be able to communicate professionally with clients, staff, courts, treatment providers, and community partners. 
  • Must maintain confidentiality and support a safe, recovery-oriented environment.
